So you want an Instagram where you can actually keep up with friends in chronological order—without Reels eating your time and energy? I modded my Instagram and its a way cleaner healthier experience without all the poison, also its REALLY customizable so you can cut out what you want.
Note: This tutorial is for iOS users. Android users have easier options—just check Reddit.
What SCInsta Does
SCInsta (tested with Instagram 384.0.0, version 0.7.0) gives you a distraction-free experience by letting you:
- Hide the Reels tab
- Disable infinite‑scroll Reels
- Remove suggested Reels, posts, Threads posts, and accounts
- Hide your feed, Stories tray, Explore grid
- Block all ads
- etc.
All wrapped in a clean interface you can install in about 20 minutes. SCInsta is fully open source and regularly updated GitHubNewReleases.
What You Need
- About 20 minutes
- A fully updated iPhone and computer (Mac, Windows, or Linux)
- A cable to connect phone to computer
- Sideload tool (Sideloadly is free)

Step-by-Step Guide
- Install Sideloadly on your computer.
- Connect your iPhone via cable.
- Sign into Sideloadly using your Apple ID.
- Download the decrypted Instagram IPA and the SCInsta 0.7.0 IPA.
- Drag Instagram IPA into Sideloadly first and hit start, once a new instagram emblem appears on your phone then drag SCInsta IPA, and hit Start.
- You should now see a modified Instagram app on your phone.
- If it doesn’t open, enable Developer Mode.
- On your iPhone, go to Settings → General → Device Management and Trust the sideloaded app
Disabling Reels in SCInsta
Open the modded Instagram and log in. Tap the three-bar icon (your usual settings). Then press and hold that same icon to access the SCInsta menu. From there, toggle off any features that are distracting you.
